Beating of the Southern Bounds of East Harford – Saturday 29th June

Join us for the Beating of the Bounds of the southern half of East Harford on Saturday 29th June, starting at the church at 10am, heading up to the boundary stones above Bullaven Hill as if going to Spurrell’s Cross, turning south along the boundary to the Western Beacon, down to the marker stone by the moor wall, along the wall and down the Stowford Lane to the railway, down Cole Lane and back into Harford under the viaduct, up the river through the Cleave to the road near Broomhill, along to Homewards Bridge, across the plats to Harford Bridge, and back up the hill to the church.  The route is marked on the map below in blue.

The route is about 7 miles and, walking and chatting as a group, should take 3 to 4 hours. It involves quite a bit of ascent and descent and walkers should wear stout footwear. There are two main drop-out points on the route (Stowford and Broomhill).

Walkers should bring their own snacks and packed lunches to eat at St Petroc’s at the end of the walk. Tea and coffee will be provided at this point. Dogs are welcome on a lead on the walk but aren’t permitted in Harford Church.
